Some real work: Irma Vega de Bijou website.

by mischiefmari on October 30, 2008

Despite being deeply distracted by the Presidential Election – I’m still trying to grapple with the fact that in less than a week we’re going to have a new President (President-Elect, actually) -  I have been doing some real work.

I just completed the text and website design/building for an artist’s website. Irma Vega de Bijou is a wonderfully talented ceramic artist. She also builds elaborate Mexican Day of the Dead altars to keep this tradition alive and to give people a chance to participate in this beautiful, joyous celebration. I just uploaded her website this past Monday. (we are aware of a few tweaks that need attention, but if you find anything out of the ordinary while browsing her site, please let me know as soon as possible).

I designed Irma’s website with iWeb, which is a fairly easy-to-use program. It does have some quirks, and I have to go back into the actual CSS pages to insert some information to make the site even more functional. When Irma first approached me about building her website, which was over a year ago, she wanted something much more sophisticated that included flash animation, but I have neither the software nor the expertise. And it would have been very costly to do that. We rethought the whole site and what she wanted from it – a very straightforward online home for her ceramic works and altars for anyone to view. I think that’s what we produced.

Well done!
maybe you should encourage Irma to attach a blog to her site she could certainly participate in The Day of the Dead that Stephanie is hosting http://rodrigvitzstyle.typepad.com/rodrigvitz_style/
