I’ve passed this little fueling station many times and wondered if it was about to disappear. No one ever stopped there for gas, no one was ever inside the little cubby-hole station managing the place, and when I took this photo (as well as a few other close-ups), it was clear the pumps hadn’t been used in a very long time.
Well, today, on my way home from the gym (the battle to dissolve the post-baby bulge is on! like popcorn!), I noticed the station has been transformed into a…cafe. No jokes. I didn’t have my camera with me, but the next time I get off the elipticor, I’ll try to remember it for the ride home.
This is my post for the weekly Ruby Tuesday. For more on this weekly photo event, please visit The Work of the Poet.

i am such a sucker for pumps like these! how fabulous that it’s a cafe! my niece and i passed very old, tiny gas station on the main drag in St. Helena the other day. i can’t remember if there were red pumps. i was in traffic, so didn’t pull over…but i did notice it enough to point it out to her…to mention how old and tiny it was.
I love that for Ruby Tues. Great shot.
Indeed a strange but fascinating little place! Now you’ll have the before and after shots when you take this view as a cafe!
Nice shot!
Ruby Tuesday
When I first saw the photo, before you said it was a cafe, I thought: “That’s my dream home!” Tiny beautiful and no yard.
Marilyn, I’ve been photographing gas stations lately. Why? Well, there are some really funky ones in this part of the world. The one down the road from our house has neon green pumps; and there’s another nearby with even more vintage-style pumps. I’ll post the photos soon.
Mary Lou, Welcome, and thanks!
Gemma, I’m making a super big note to myself to remember to take the photos of the cafe.
chubskulit, Thanks!
Linda, you can’t be serious. Tho I can see you in the little station, opening the window and giving one of your illos away as people pay for their gas. Cute.
That’s a charming scene! I hope they don’t remove those red pumps. Great colors!
Cool shot!

I love those old gas stations. Strange that something so unromantic can provoke such good vibes and fond memories.
There was a beautiful one on the way to the farm where my mom grew up. It was a tiny station and it had a roof styled like a caps
Nice shot this…
Cool ruby entry! Those are stunning reds there.. but I am also wondering why they transformed it into a cafe.. but anyway, that’s their business so I just hope it picks up some bucks.
Happy Ruby Tuesday!

Sorry for the late blog hop. I hope you still could visit me back.
Odd, I think that everything these days looks so high-tech, modern…it’s nice to see something that’s more physical like these pumps. Unlike modern pumps where the numbers move electronically, these have those – I don’t know what they’re called – cylinders with the numbers physically printed on them and turn as you fill your tank. When I first saw this station, I just thought of less complicated times.
Hi Cacai, thanks for stopping by!
Huh, that sounds like an interesting transformation. I like the photo. The red really stands out well and grabs you into the photo.
