Podcast: Friday Fiction. Flash Fiction.

by mischiefmari on November 20, 2008

I’m not really posting for ‘Fess up Friday these days. Like a lot of people who give these blog events a try, I started out with a bang and I’m kind of fizzling out. I still want to do it, because it’s a great idea: Just talk about what you’ve written this week, anything, and your thoughts on your writing. But lately, I have been feeling kind of blah about my own writing. Who among you wants to read about blah?

But I’ll tell you anyway. I’ll keep it short.

I haven’t written too much. Except for short, punchy, attention-grabbing sentences that tell people how to configure their websites so they can attract customers, grow their business and boost their profits. Sometimes I feel like I’m running into a wall, trying to find five new ways to say the same thing. But it’s a good assignment. The venture that I’m writing for is scheduled to launch in January, at least in Beta format, and when that happens, you, my dear Mischies, will be the first to know.

As you’ve gleaned from today’s title, there’s a podcast. A friend, Bernard Kronik, recently published his short story, “Free Coffee,” on a great website called Verbsap. I’m admittedly out of the loop when it comes to where to publish your story on the web. But on this site, in addition to Bernard’s great short story, I found many others. There are so many talented writers out there! Support them!

Well, I can certainly relate to the writing blahs… So if you ever need to get them all out here I’ll be listening!

As for writing, there’s always next week…

Paz, thanks. I wish writing were a happy endeavor. It is not. It’s what comes after the writing that is a happy event.

Nova, I will lean on you someday. Thank you so much, and congratulations again on your recently completed manuscript! Yay!

I love how your voice ends the last sentence of the story.
I got interrupted 3 times in the course of your less than 5-minute podcast and had to re-find my place. Because of that, I think making podcasts is tough. You have to be much more compelling than in writing, don’t you think? Because it’s easy to pick up where you left off when you’re reading … Also because it isn’t always so private as reading. (Though I have headphones on at the moment.) You’re doing a great job. Do you ever see Bernard?
