Old Gas Station Now a Tiny Restaurant.

gas station

In my previous Ruby Tuesday post, I featured a shot of a pair of vintage red gas pumps that were no longer in use. The station looked like it had been abandoned. A few days later, I passed by the same place – it’s on Green Street in the heart of Pasadena – and noticed people sitting at tables in front and also in line at the little station window. A most unexpected transformation!

On my way home from the gym, I remembered to stop and take a picture. Only problem is that the joint wasn’t yet open for business. And worse – seriously worse – I had my camera on a very high ASA setting, which is why it’s so bright and noisy. I’ll try again to get a better picture at some other time, and hopefully when people are there.

Ruby Tuesday is a weekly photo event. To find out more, please visit the Work of the Poet.

cheers, mari

That is a really cool Idea. I think I would enjoy going there

I love it when we see thongs like this. What a great idea for a old fashion Gas station. I wonder what they serve. High Octane Mo-juice, Sonoco burgers, Tiger in your tank fries and maybe some Under the hood Cake! LOL. Just love it, what a great find. Now where did you say this was.. I will have to visit it next time I am in Pasadena, California.

Well, I just LOVE this.

Very nice! I LOVE this, too. I think it’s great that they turned it into a restaurant. ;-)

Regszikora, It looks like a fun place to go for a quick bite. Maybe that’s what I’ll do next time I go to take a photo.

Auntie E, Tiger in your tank fries? Ha! You’ve come up with some great names for entrees. The place is on Green Street, below Colorado and West of Hill. I can’t remember the exact cross street.

Linda, isn’t it just adorable?

Paz, whoever decided to make this into an eatery is one clever person.

I’ve always thought deserted old gas stations would make great studios. Also, my dad used to have an old gas pump exactly like those in your picture. It was full of leaded gas for pumping into his tractors. When I was in high school I used to sneak gas from it for the car so me and my friends could drive around all night (there wasn’t much else to do).
A little bell would ring for each gallon pumped. Yep, that was in the days when cars still used leaded gas (I drove a Dodge Dart).

Lisa, you naughty little girl, taking gas from your dad’s pump! And you drove a Dodge Dart! You’re classic! Like the martini!
